With the early arrival of spring weather, the crappie fishing is on fire! We have been out this week targeting brush piles in front of docks, as well as “shooting” CaptMack’s Popeye Jigs under the docks. We have averaged 30+ crappie daily in a short period of time. One of my clients even boated a 17lb Striper w/ 4lb test line and a 1/16 oz Popeye Jig under a dock on Tuesday!

Target areas that have both bait fish and slightly stained water as these tend to hold the most crappie. Also, live minnows on a down line or a small jig worked through the brush around docks will produce fish.
